Established more than thirty years ago, The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation, Inc. has been serving the needs of South Texas residents by supporting cancer-related patient care services and programs and cancer research and education.

The latest initiative of the Foundation benefits the children of South Texas through collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. This partnership, which was formalized in 2000, established The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic in McAllen.

The first state-of-the-art pediatric cancer and hematology facility in the region, the Clinic has provided care of the highest quality to thousands of young children, not one of which has been turned away for inability to pay.
